Bruce Renick

Bruce Renick is a man whose bottom-line thirst for pushing the envelope has catapulted profit margins and earned billions for some of the world’s most storied brands. Visionary leader for recent concepts like the Mason Jar Company, Renick applied the same exceptional skill set which sold millions for Chaps Ralph Lauren, Gant, Calvin Klein and Twinlab supplements. He was the first to bring Dr. Weil into the mainstream and brought diet pill monolith, Metabolife, out of a dark period. His secret sauce? Renick is a promotional thinker in a salesman’s body. “I believe in building from the ground up, which may start with a single SKU in one door. I focus on building a SKU to a revenue amount, then worry about the next product and its trajectory.” Renick’s approach is simple: focus on basic business functions as the gateway to success. In his spare time, Renick mentors’ bright young minds to support their meteoric career rise.

He was also responsible for re-igniting the Pilates craze in America through introduction of Windsor Pilates. Fueled by the sounds of bands like The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction, Evans has turned out hundreds of rock posters for U2, Green Day, Pearl Jam, The Ramones, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica and Nine Inch Nails. It was his subversively gloating blue buddha on the sound stacks next to the bands ripping at the Lollapalooza festivals. Most recently, Evans online design studio turns out promotions for Sony PicturesDreamWorks AnimationLionsgateOrion PicturesParamount, and Warner Bros.

His eye for uncovering the remarkable was something that attracted viewers to tune in to watch Hurricane Andrew unleash its fury. His coverage of the HIV Haitians detained at Cuba’s Guantanamo Bay Naval Base earned him special recognition from the Florida Medical Association.  Steve is a former board member of the United Inventors Association.

INSPIRATION

We've seen 10,000's of products, many incredible concepts - but the ones that succeed are the ones with the most memorable marketing. You know what they say: the one with the loudest voice wins. That may be true, but we have noticed that the one with the most intelligently crafted, memorably designed and redonkulously excellent engineering becomes the true champion.

Since the start of our agencies in 1996, we have continually been wow'd by the interns who have passed through these doors - and it is in that spirit that we pay it forward.

If you've never experienced the buttery feeling of putting an arm around the shoulders of the next generation of talent and guiding them into full bloom, now is your chance. Proceeds of your submission fee for the CMA Awards funds a scholarship for entrepreneurship students in U.S. universities who need dough to get their idea off the ground.

We aren't the only ones who are suckers for a keen young mind; there are others who are inspired by helping young talent to outwit, outrun and show us up. As such, an initial scholarship fund of $5000 has been put in place by a real estate development entrepreneur, Kearny Real Estate, which in tandem with this first annual awards program submission proceeds, we envision swelling to incredible and useful heights.
